Musings

been_thinking is my friend Léa's new blog. It seems to be a little more intelligent than mine...

A few things on my mind today. Saw the Brad Pitt interview last night. While I still think he's a "dirty boy" I have a new respect for him after Primetime Live last night (he's relieved, I'm sure). Those stories and pictures out of Ethiopia are heartbreaking and make you want to do something.

On another note, a woman in Floral Park, New York found a leg in her back yard. That's gotta suck, for her but mostly for the poor guy it belonged to! Police believe a man stowed away in the wheel well of a jet arriving from Africa.

Gordon Lightfoot wrote in Early Mornin' Rain: "You can't jump a jet plane, like you can a freight train." You really can't. All crassness aside, the woman hit it on the head when she said that she's lucky she lives in a place where she doesn't have to run away from by stowing away on a plane. Too true.

Also disturbing, but in a different way, is this story out of Shanghai.

A court in China has sentenced an online gamer to death for the real-life murder
of a fellow player after a confrontation over a virtual weapon.

The dispute involved the ownership of a "dragon sabre" in the fantasy game Legend of Mir III.

Dude. It's a game. I think you need to spend some time away from the computer. Uh, oh, right, looks like you'll have about 15 years to do that. In a Chinese prison. the dragon sabres in there are real.
